Springfield Fish Hatchery is a production facility responsible for rearing, Endangered Species Act listed Snake River Sockeye Salmon. The Springfield Fish Hatchery is seeking one temporary Fisheries Biological Aide (non- benefited) to perform routine duties associated with incubation and rearing of up to 1.0 million sockeye salmon smolts. This position will also involve maintaining hatchery grounds and facilities.

General Information
Incumbents must, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to stand and work in adverse weather conditions, sometimes working in cold water for up to eight hours per shift, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Operate motorized equipment including UTVs, tractors and landscaping equipment. Incumbents may work around chemicals, heavy dust, high voltage, loud noises and slippery surfaces. Work consists of a 40 hour work week and most workdays are from 7:30am to 4:00pm with a rotation of weekends and holiday work.

Free, fully furnished dormitory style housing is provided on site with this position. Temporary staff are provided with their own bedroom and bathroom and includes; water, internet, power, trash, full kitchen, living room, and washer/dryer. No pets.
Qualifications
Applicants must be able to work well in a team environment and independently as needed, take direction and follow protocols effectively, and handle responsibility. Applicants must be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Fish hatchery or fisheries related experience is strongly preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Routine duties are but are not limited to: weighing fish feed and feeding fish; cleaning and caring for fish in rearing units; fish health monitoring; measuring water quality and maintaining equipment; data collection; data entry; sampling fish; maintaining grounds and equipment; operating landscaping equipment; pressure washing raceways; cleaning offices and hatchery facilities.
