Wildlife Technician

Primary Responsibilities Include: Coordinate and operate off-site CWD sampling stations; collect CWD samples from animals brought to the Upper Snake office and to regional check stations; ensure accurate data collection, management, and entry; organize transport of carcasses to approved dumpsters; conduct regular visits to collect carcasses and parts from taxidermists and meat processors; coordinate shipment of samples to lab for testing; sample road-killed ungulates in and adjacent to CWD management area; retrieve remote cameras; assist with other wildlife management tasks as needed. Previous experience collecting CWD samples preferred but not required.

Applicants must be able to interact with the public in a professional and positive manner, work independently, and follow established protocols while accurately collecting data and sampling wildlife. Applicants should be detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious.

With or without reasonable accommodations, incumbents must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, navigate through and hike over rough and rugged terrain up to 5 miles one way, safely drive on both paved and backcountry roads for multiple hours per shift, and work in adverse weather conditions.
