Range Safety Officer/Range Liaison

About the position

This is a part-time position Thursday through Sunday averaging 15-25 hours per week (more during sight-in season from August – October). Candidates must be available to work during regular range hours between 9-6 Thursday through Sunday. 


Under general supervision, the Range Safety Officer/Range Liaison monitors the safety of a live firing line and performs basic operations and maintenance of Black’s Creek Public Shooting Range; performs related work as required. Communicates with stakeholders to ensure positive and effective collaboration and understanding to ensure successful operation and growth of ranges. 
 

Qualifications
Six months of part- or full-time experience working at a public shooting facility or closely related facility or an equivalent combination of training and experience with inexperienced to advanced firearms users.
Responsibilities
• Monitor range firing line for safety and rule enforcement
• As needed, collect range fees, educate new shooters about range procedures and rules; assist with minor construction and repair of target frames, stands and benches and ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of grounds in coordination with EE-DA-HOW Long Rifles (EDH) range supervisor and staff
• Provide guidance in safe and proper use of firearms to facility users
• Collaborate with range staff and stakeholders regarding general operations and maintenance of ranges, coordinating range committee meetings as needed and effectively facilitating communication to ensure positive results.
• Regular communication with Statewide Shooting Range Manager regarding range operations
• Occasional travel to IDFG Southwest Region shooting ranges
• Coordinate with IDFG volunteer service coordinators to facilitate Hunter’s Education courses at Black’s Creek PSR
