About the position

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game Eagle Fish Health Laboratory is seeking a Biological Aide located in Eagle, Idaho. This is a full-time, three month, non-benefited temporary position starting March 3rd and ending May 23rd, and is expected to work up to 40 hours per week.

SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: This position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Experience following oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures
• Some knowledge of biology, zoology, botany, conservation biology or closely related field
• Some knowledge of life history, anatomy, and ecology of various fish and wildlife species
• Experience recording data
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for this position include the processing of fish tissue samples for pathogen testing in the laboratory. This processing will entail operating and maintaining laboratory equipment including centrifuges, autoclaves, dishwashers, balances, and pipettes; washing/sterilizing glassware; preparing reagents and media; and other laboratory duties as assigned. Incumbent may also assist with sample collection from Steelhead during spawning, requiring some travel including overnight.
