About the position
The Oxbow Fish Hatchery is seeking one 8-month benefitted Fishery Technician to work at the newly renovated Oxbow Fish Hatchery and trap near Oxbow, Oregon.
Dates Needed:
March 9, 2025 through November 26, 2025.
General Information
Incumbents must with or without reasonable accommodations be able to work a variable schedule under adverse weather conditions, lift and carry/pack up to 60 lbs. Dormitory housing is provided.
Most work weeks are 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Occasional weekends, longer shifts, or travel required.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Driver's License and HS or GED required. Must be able to interact with the public in a professional and positive manner.
Desired Qualifications:
Some knowledge of: life history, anatomy, and ecology of various fish species. Ability in diagnosing and repairing minor mechanical problems.

Responsibilities
Perform routine fish culture duties at a steelhead and Chinook Salmon fish hatchery and trap. Typical duties: spawns fish; assists in monitoring development of eggs and fry; cleans raceways and incubator trays; observes fish behavior for signs of stress and disease; removes daily fish mortality; tracks hatchery inventory; loads, transports, and stocks fish with a one-ton truck; maintains records and contributes to reports documenting hatchery activities, data entry, disease treatments of eggs and fish; general maintenance and landscape duties; help with creel census operations; assist with other hatchery stations as needed.
