The Department is seeking two Fisheries Biological Aides to work on sportfish population surveys in the Magic Valley Region. The incumbent will serve as part of a regional fisheries crew conducting various field projects and fishery surveys on streams, lakes, and reservoirs in the Magic Valley Region. These positions are non-benefitted with an approximate 3.5-month term of employment.
Temporary housing may be available upon request.
Early May - September, Approximately 4 months of employment
Extended travel will be required at times to remote locations for fish sampling operations. This position involves walking up to ten miles a day over rugged terrain carrying a large backpack and along stream banks; standing and working in cold water for up to eight hours per shift; lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 60 pounds with occasional lifting and carrying up to 80 pounds for short distances; and working in inclement weather conditions. Successful applicants need to possess excellent independent decision-making skills.
