About the position

The Sawtooth Fish Hatchery is seeking one (1) Fishery Data Technician (benefited) to assist with trapping, spawning, and rearing of steelhead trout and Chinook salmon in Stanley.
Dates Needed: March 10, 2025 through October 10, 2025. (some flexibility available with exact start and end dates)

General Information
With or without reasonable accommodations, incumbents must be able to stand and work in cold water for up to five hours per shift; lift and carry equipment weighing up to 60 pounds; and work in extreme weather conditions. Dormitory style housing is provided free of charge.
Incumbents will work 40 hours per week. Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, occasional weekend work rotations will be required.
Qualifications
Applicants must be able to work independently and follow set protocols while accurately collecting data. Applicants must be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Applicants should have intermediate level of competency using Microsoft Excel (filtering data, using mathematical and logical functions, using pivot tables). Fisheries related experience and education strongly preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
Assist in the trapping and spawning of steelhead trout and Chinook salmon at the Sawtooth Fish Hatchery. Assist with trapping and spawning data collection and data entry using spreadsheets. Perform routine fish culture duties including feeding fish, weighing out fish feed, cleaning and caring for fish rearing vessels. Maintain grounds and equipment, and clean office and hatchery facilities. Interact with the public in a professional and positive manner.
