The Clearwater Region is seeking two (2) temporary Fishery Technicians (1 position with benefits; 1 position without benefits) to conduct wild steelhead monitoring work on the Crooked River Steelhead Monitoring and Evaluation Study and trap spring Chinook salmon broodstock for the Clearwater Fish Hatchery.

Its location provides year-round access to world class hunting and fishing opportunities, top whitewater rafting, endless camping and wilderness experiences, and is referred to as the “Gateway to Hells Canyon”, the deepest river gorge in North America!
Important Note: the non-benefitted position requires a mandatory 1-month layoff during the month of June.
Dates needed: Late February 2025 – early November 2025 (Dates somewhat flexible); each position provides up to a maximum of 1,385 hours worked
1) Operating juvenile rotary screw traps and managing trapping efforts
2) Maintaining two adult fish weirs
3) Collecting adult and juvenile fish data
4) Entering, managing, and validating biological data
5) Assisting with hatchery duties including transporting adult Chinook salmon, nutrient enhancement, and grounds care
6) Conducting spawning ground surveys
Successful candidates will assist with other projects throughout the Clearwater Region and complete additional duties on an as-needed basis.
