The Southwest Region is seeking one (1) Wildlife Technician (non-benefited) to help manage Cecil D. Andrus Wildlife Management Area (Andrus WMA) during the 2025 season.
Dates Needed:
Work will begin approximately on March 17, 2025 and end approximately on December 31, 2025 (flexible start and end dates) at a rate of $17.32 per hour. The incumbent will work four (4) months on, one (1) month off, four (4) months on.
With or without reasonable accommodation, incumbent must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, hike long distances in extremely rough terrain while carrying a 30-40 lb pack, and lift/carry equipment up to 60 lbs for short distances. Housing will be provided.
Knowledge of at least one of the following: 1) Good knowledge of wildlife ecology and habitat requirements and some knowledge of wildlife habitat including evaluation and management practices; OR 2) Good knowledge of biology, zoology, botany, conservation biology or closely related discipline.
Experience recording, summarizing, analyzing, and synthesizing biological data using a personal computer to manage data. Must be highly self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Must be willing and able to obtain an Idaho State Department of Agriculture Professional Pesticide Applicator License. Be able to effectively communicate with staff to ensure tasks are done completely.
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Range, Wildlife, Environmental Resources, other closely related natural resource field, or equivalent in training and experience is preferred. Experience operating and maintaining four-wheel drive vehicles, tractor, backhoe, ATVs, power and hand tools, chainsaws, sprayers and other field equipment preferred.
Information and Education: Provide information to Andrus WMA users and the general public; work with volunteer groups on various habitat projects; staff office hours during fall hunting seasons to provide motorized access and information to WMA users.
