General Information
The Salmon Region encompasses wilderness rivers, mountain streams, and expansive alpine lake systems throughout the Sawtooth Valley, Boulder-White Clouds Wilderness, and Bighorn Crags of the Franch Church. The town of Salmon is situated at the confluence of the Lemhi and Salmon Rivers, and offers many opportunities for fishing, hunting, mountain biking, backpacking, and paddling. Qualifications
The applicant should be working towards a BS in fisheries (or related field), or have some equivalent in job experience and training. The ability to maintain a positive attitude and work ethic through varying environmental conditions, and professionally interact with the angling public and collaborating agencies is required.

The applicant, with or without reasonable accomodations, must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, walk up to 10 miles a day and along rocky and steep stream banks carrying a variety of equipment, work independently, stand for long periods of time, safely drive for multiple hours per shift, and handle harvested fish. Basic math skills and experience using computers are also required.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. Must accommodate a flexible schedule (holidays, weekends, and nights) and be willing to work for 10 consecutive days.
Responsibilities
The Salmon Region is seeking three (3) Fisheries Bioaides (non-benefited) to assist with stream electrofishing surveys, spawning ground surveys, and angler creel census. The incumbent will be exposed to a variety of fish sampling and survey techniques (see primary duties below), and will work across multiple crews as needed, but duties will generally shift to angler creel census in October. The work schedule is generally 5 days on-2 days off but may change to 8 days on followed by 6 days off depending on survey type and project needs (weekend/holiday work will be required in October and November). All food, equipment, and camping gear (except for sleeping bag) are supplied by IDFG during overnight stays. Field crews are required to camp out in remote areas during their shift. Housing will not be provided during days off.

Primary duties include: conducting stream electrofishing surveys, angler creel census, and spawning ground surveys. Additional duties may include: juvenile screw trap operation, PIT tagging fish, Alpine lake surveys (gillnetting/angling), collecting biological data (weights, lengths, DNA, scales, etc.), data entry, and equipment maintenance.
