The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Maintenance Craftsman. This position will be located at our Clearwater Regional Office located in Lewiston, Idaho. This position is a 5-month non-benefited temporary position and will work 40 hours a week, Monday through Thursday.  Work schedules may include weekends and holidays. This position will be responsible for conducting minor maintenance on the Idaho Department of Fish and Game operated fishing and boating access sites on the Clearwater and Salmon Rivers.

General Information:

Incumbents may work in all weather conditions. This position also involves, with or without reasonable accommodations, physical activities associated with construction work such as lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 100 pounds, bending, stooping, and working at heights. Work may be required in remote and rugged terrain.

Responsibilities:

  • This position works as part of a several-person team to perform operations and maintenance of Department lands and facilities, primarily fishing and boating access sites. 
  • Operate tools and equipment such as pressure washers, lawnmowers, and weed eaters.
  • Perform light maintenance (painting, dock repair, small engines). 
  • Cleaning/restocking restrooms and removing trash.
  • Document site use, needed repairs, replacing, and installing signage. 
  • Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures, welding and fabrication, woodworking, structural projects, irrigation systems, pump stations, pipes, sinks, lavatories, septic tanks, electrical wiring, lights, ballasts, switches, and receptacles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)

  • Some knowledge of heating and cooling system maintenance and repair. (Typically gained by at least six months of experience performing general duties in this area or completion of a vocational-technology course(s) in this area)
  • Experience performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance trades work. (Typically gained by at least six months of experience performing general duties in this area or completion of a vocational-technology course(s) in this area)
  • Experience using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry mechanics, plumbing, and electrical work. (Typically gained by at least six months of experience performing general duties in this area or completion of a vocational-technology course(s) in this area)

Minimum Qualification Specialty: (Required for the current opening)

  • Valid driver’s license
