Peregrine Falcon Take Season Setting Comment Opportunity

Idaho Fish and Game is seeking comments on its 2025-2027 Peregrine Falcon Take Season proposals.

Review the draft proposal below and submit comments by March 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. MDT.

After reviewing feedback and considering agency goals, season recommendations will be presented to the Commission for their consideration.

Proposed Peregrine Falcon Take
Two Peregrine Capture Permits – one statewide permit (nestling or juvenile peregrine) and one permit (limited to nestling take only in Lemhi and Custer counties) or a juvenile statewide.

Federal regulations governing falconry authorize states to manage the take of peregrines from the wild for falconry during the nesting period through August 31; take cannot exceed 5% of annual production – 43 chicks were confirmed during the last statewide survey conducted in 2021.

Since 2013, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission has adopted regulations allowing the take of 2 peregrine falcons for falconry, annually.

  • Take of nestlings from eyries located on man-made structures is prohibited;
  • Capture and possession of wild peregrines is restricted to resident Peregrine Capture Permits.

Review the draft proposal below and submit comments by March 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. MDT.
