Sage-grouse Actions Team

The Sage-grouse Actions Team (established in 2015) is a group of individuals representing state and federal agencies, NGO’s, and private citizens tasked with implementing Idaho's Sage-grouse Conservation Strategy. The team works collaboratively to prioritize funding to improve sage-grouse habitat and enhance monitoring of sage-grouse activity across Idaho.

Local Working Groups (LWGs) were the heart of  Idaho's Sage-grouse Conservation Strategy. They provided a forum for people to discuss sage-grouse habitat issues in their area, share knowledge for local planning, and build support for on-the-ground projects. With the help of Office of Species Conservation grants and other federal and nonfederal matching funds, LWGs developed and completed many habitat improvement projects for sage-grouse, including reseeding sagebrush and native grasses and forbs after wildfire and fencing wet meadows and springs to protect and improve late summer brood-rearing habitat.

Although most LWGs are no longer as active as they used to be, local projects continue to occur across Idaho via the Sage-Grouse Actions Team.
