Looking to volunteer with Idaho Fish and Game? Here is a list of opportunities for the month of October.

Juniper Mtn.-Mahogany Habitat Project 

We will be enhancing wildlife habitat by hand-planting native mountain mahogany in the area burned by a prescribed fire in 2019 on Juniper Mountain. 

  • Date: Tuesday, October 19, 2021
  • Details: Meet at 7:00 AM at the Southwest Region Fish and Game Office (15950 N Gate Blvd.  Nampa, ID). Return by 6 PM. The site location is south of Jordan Valley, OR.

Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area 

Our Fish and Game Volunteer Habitat Program partners with BLM in celebration of National Public Lands Day each year. We will be planting, cleaning up weeds and trash, and learning about the Birds of Prey NCA and all the amazing biodiversity it supports. All ages are welcome! See the link below to sign-up. 

  • Dates: Friday & Saturday October 22 & 23, 2021 from 9 AM - 2 PM.

Soda Fire Restoration

This is a site important for sage grouse brood rearing and also supports big game and other small mammals and game birds.  It is near a sage grouse lek. We will plant sagebrush seedlings by hand to enhance habitat, which is critical to supporting wildlife.

  • Date: Tuesday, October 26, 2021
  • Destination: We will meet at the Fish and Game Regional Office 15950 N Gate Blvd. Nampa, ID 83687 at 8:00 AM OR at the ExtraMile truck stop (formerly the ION) at 8:45 AM at the intersection of Hwy 55 & Hwy 95 west of Marsing. The planting site will be in the Succor Creek or Blackstock area, approximately 15 miles south of Marsing off of US Hwy 95. Plan to return by 4:00 PM.
