Enroll in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) to enhance upland game bird habitat

idfg-jbruns

The Clearwater region of Idaho Fish and Game works with the Natural Resources and Conservation Service (NRCS) and USDA-Farm Services Agency to create habitat for upland game birds through the Conservation Reserve Program (known by many as CRP). The general sign-up period for CRP is currently open and runs until February 28th, 2020. Landowners are encouraged to enroll lands in CRP, and dove-tail these efforts with our Access Yes program to create better upland game bird hunting opportunities throughout the region. Fish and Game recognizes declines in hunting opportunities for popular game bird species typically associated with agricultural lands including: Ring-necked pheasants, Gray partridges, and California quail. Increasing habitat availability is one of the main ways to bring these species back.

If you or anyone you know is interested in creating habitat for upland game birds on their farm, contact IDFG at 208-750-4226 or your local USDA-Farm Services Agency office to enroll! We are always looking to build new partnerships to create more habitat and hunting opportunities for upland game birds and of course a few more happy bird dogs!
