The best catch rates this past week were on the South Fork of the Clearwater. Anglers were spread through out the fishery with some of the best fishing around mile post 7.2 on Highway 14. Many anglers were bottom bouncing orange beads and yarn.
Effort picked up slightly this past week on the North Fork and main stem of the Clearwater. Anglers fishing on river section 03 (Mouth to Orofino Bridge) fished in front of Dworshak Dam in a hole called the Slaughterhouse (accessible by boat). The choice attractant used were orange beads.
Most of the effort on river section 05 (North Fork) is at the bridge, boat ramp, or wall of the dam. Anglers in this section drifted, orange beads, eggs, or jigs.
The best catch rates on the Salmon River this past week were on river section 11. - Jaime Robertson, Fisheries Technician 2. Clearwater Region
