Lake Cascade ice and fishing conditions are now excellent over the entire lake with 7 or more inches of hard ice. On the North Arm the slush and water that was on top of the ice last week has frozen with just an inch or two of hard snow on top. Foot, snowmobile and ATV's anglers are having no problems getting around.
In the Sugarloaf area the road is open to the boat ramp but bring your Ice skates and cleats as the lake is a giant sheet of glare ice as far as you can see! Walking on it is difficult as it is very slick. If you take a snowmobile out from Sugarloaf road or ramp remember that there is no snow or water on the ice to keep the track lubricated unless you have ice scrapers.
In the Cascade City ramp area there are still large areas of snow on the ice for snowmobiles to travel on.
No matter where you access the lake, always be cautious and check ice thickness occasionally, especially near creek mouths and pressure ridges. These ridge cracks can open and close daily depending on weather conditions.
Check back weekly for Cascade fishing conditions, and don't forget to buy your 2018 fishing license.
