Fish and Game Officers responded to a call Sunday morning Oct. 29, from a group of hunters who found two wasted mule deer does in the desert east of Dietrich in Unit 53.

Evidence indicates the two deer were very likely killed in the evening hours of Saturday Oct. 28, transported to the South Owinza Crossing Road off of Highway 24 and dumped. No attempt was made to salvage any of the usable meat from either animal and both animals were left entirely to waste.

The South Owinza Road is located approximately 10 miles east of Dietrich or 2 miles west of Hidden Valley Road south of Highway 24.

The second case is a buck that was poached Unit 52A northwest of Minidoka.

Idaho Fish and Game Officers responded to a call regarding a wasted deer on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Evidence at the scene suggests the animal was likely killed in the evening hours of Oct. 30 or morning hours of the 31.

The head and only a small portion of edible meat was taken from the animal, the remaining portions of the meat were left to waste in the desert. The animal was killed near the desert’s edge in the German Lake area approximately six miles north of Highway 24 on East 700 North.
