The Big Wood Canal Company has indicated Magic Dam will close for the Season on October 1. No salvage order has been issued. All season, method of take, and bag limit rules are still in effect.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will monitor the Big Wood River and Richfield Canal after shutdown. In years past, similar reservoir conditions have resulted in sufficient flows downstream from the dam to keep trout alive through the winter. A salvage order may be issued should conditions decline.
