May 16, 2017-Niagara Springs Fish Hatchery's Fisheries Technician, Derrick Tuttle, received the American Red Cross Hometown Hero Award in the Workplace Hero category.  In January of 2017, Derrick was in the right place at the right time when a vehicle crashed and plunged into the intake pool at the Niagara Springs Fish Hatchery. Derrick acted quickly and was able to assist the driver and pull her to safety just as the vehicle sank. We are incredibly proud of Derrick and his willingness to go above and beyond to help save the life of another person. The Hometown Heroes Award brings together community leaders, corporations, first responders, emergency and safety personnel, and other worthy individuals who view safety as a priority. Congratulations Derrick!
