IDFG has a hero in their midst
In the midst of a disaster it takes a lot of ingenuity and teamwork to keep the water flowing at a fish hatchery. Tuesday, January 3 was a first for the staff at Niagara Springs Fish Hatchery. An unfortunate accident occurred where a car crashed into Niagara's intake pool. Thankfully one of Niagara's staff was adjusting water at the time and saw the crash happen. He was able to help and rescue the driver before the vehicle sunk. Quick thinking and bravery on his behalf likely saved the driver's life. The staff worked a late evening making sure the fish were safe in the event of an oil leak or obstructed water flow to the facility until the vehicle could be removed. There were no serious injuries to the people involved or the fish.

UPDATE: Derrick Tuttle was the IDFG employee who assisted the driver. He says I'm just glad I was there to help the young lady out of the SUV. Also like to thank Rick Foster and the rest of the Idaho Power crew, the local first responders, and the towing crew for their quick, careful and safe removal of the SUV out of the intake.
