Public concern regarding several healthy deer near the I-184 "connector" led to an Idaho Fish and Game truck being sideswiped by a fellow motorist today in Boise. Both the small deer herd and the officer were reported to be in good health.
Attempting to remove/haze the animals from the area would be dangerous for everyone involved, including passing motorists. The deer appeared unalarmed in their urban surroundings, and bedded down later in the day to conserve energy. Fish and Game staff are counting on the deer moving out of the area under cover of darkness this evening.
Please drive carefully and keep an eye out for Idaho's wildlife -- and wildlife officers -- on these wintry roads.
Year-over-year, around 5,000 animals are recorded kill statewide in our road kill/wildlife-vehicle collision database. We use the data to help find problem areas. Reporting live or dead animals near Idaho's roadways helps us work with cooperating agencies and groups to make Idaho's highways safer for all of us.

How did these deer get into the field on the Franklin Road exit in Boise? How are they going to get out? pic.twitter.com/xGlqyWlvYG
