Cascade Reservoir Ice Fishing Report, Dec. 20

As of Dec. 19, there was no snow or slush on the ice, but that is changing and there's currently 5-6 inches and it’s still snowing!

The access road to Sugarloaf Campground is closed due to snow and will not be plowed due to the poor condition of the road base.  There is minimal parking just off of Idaho 55 if you want to snowmobile (or walk) out to the lake from there.

Poison Creek ramp,  Cascade city ramp near the golf course, and Blue Heron boat ramps are being plowed by Idaho Parks and Recreation, and the 90-degree road turn 2 miles south of Poison creek ramp has a small parking area plowed out for anglers. There's a $5 day-use fee at these lots if you don't have a state parks pass.

Anglers are starting to get out on the ice and fishing is fair. There were five groups of anglers out from Poison Creek on Dec. 19, and they had one or two large perch per group and an occasional trout.

Horsethief Reservoir east of Cascade is frozen over with reports of good fishing for rainbow trout. The road on the west side of the lake is being plowed for access to the YMCA camp and should be plowed all winter. There is a plowed parking area at the dam. The lake was stocked again in late September so fishing should be excellent this winter.
