There is a fresh blanket of snow up to 12 inches deep on the ice. Ice conditions are good, but access can be difficult especially off of Poison Creek boat ramp where there is mixed snow and slush!
Other areas of Lake Casade are mostly snow covered with no slush yet, but that will probably change with all the snow sitting on top off the ice. Anglers need to be careful with snowmobiles to avoid getting them stuck and stranded a long distance from access points. Snow and slush is too deep lake wide for atv's use on the ice.
There were a few anglers on the ice Dec. 28, but fishing was pretty slow as we checked two trout caught in a dozen groups of anglers. No perch were reported caught during the day, but some anglers that were out earlier in the week during the snow storms reported fair fishing for perch.
Fish and Game personnel will be surveying ice anglers throughout the 2016/17 season and we will be updating the blog every week or two so check back often to get the latest conditions.
