Steelhead Fishing on the Clearwater in November 2016

Most of the effort on the Clearwater is focused from Peck to just east of the Dworshak National Fish Hatchery on river section 03. However, there are still fish being caught from Lewiston to Peck, just less pressure in this area. River section 04 is receiving some fishing effort with decent catch rates. Most of the anglers interviewed from Orofino Bridge to Kamiah Bridge were drift boat anglers. Most of the shore anglers interviewed on section 4 were above the Kamiah Bridge. The North Fork had decent catch rates this week. Many anglers commented that there were a lot of fish, but they just were not biting. Anglers are having success catching steelhead using either beads or shrimp and eggs.

The Salmon River is receiving a decent amount of effort but overall catch rates were poor. Effort has dropped on river section 01 on the Snake with most of the anglers now fishing around or above Heller Bar. River section 02 on the Snake catch rates were poor for steelhead and Salmon.
