Bald Eagles Killed, Information Sought

Fish and Game is asking the public for information regarding the recent shooting of two mature bald eagles along the shore of Brownlee Reservoir near Steck Park. The birds were discovered Sunday, February 28th, although exact time of death could not be determined. Fish and Game veterinarian Mark Drew confirmed that both had been shot with a high-powered rifle. Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) is offering a reward for information in the case and callers can remain anonymous. Contact CAP at 1-800-632-5999 twenty four hours a day. Bald eagles are the only eagle species unique to North America and are the national bird of the United States. They are also fully protected both federally and at the state level as are all birds of prey or raptors found in Idaho. Fish and Game conservation officer Mark Sands is investigating, and would like to speak with anyone who might have information regarding the case.
