Fish and Game seeks information on deer poaching near Heise

idfg-mdemick
On Sunday, January 10, Idaho Fish and Game conservation officers observed where a deer was illegal killed and taken near the River Road which runs along the South Fork of the Snake River about a half-mile downstream from the Heise Bridge. Officers were able to follow a blood trail that dripped from the poacher's vehicle for 7.1 miles before the trail stopped. Officers collected forensic evidence at the scene and determined the deer was shot sometime in either the late hours of Saturday, January 9 or early on January 10. The location of the incident was on the north side of the road between the Heise Bridge and the Cress Creek Hiking Trail. Evidence at the scene indicated the illegal killing of the animal was not related to a roadkill situation in the same area, and that deer was loaded whole at the scene before being taken away. Anyone who has information on this incident or who may have observed a suspicious vehicle in the area is encouraged to contact the Idaho Department of Fish and Game at 208-525-7290 or the Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) Hotline at 1-800-632-5999. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for rewards
