Public's help sought in bull elk poaching case

idfg-mdemick
A bull elk, poached only for its antlers and left to waste, was recently discovered just north of the community of Council, Idaho. Now Idaho Fish and Game officers are appealing to the public for information that will bring the poacher(s) to justice. Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) is offering a reward for information in the case and callers can remain anonymous. Contact CAP at 1-800-632-5999 twenty-four hours a day. In addition to the CAP hotline, persons with information regarding this case may also contact the Fish and Game McCall office at 208-634-8137 weekdays and Idaho State Police at 208-846-7550 on weekends. On November 29th, the headless bull was discovered just above Ridge Road, north of Council. Fish and Game conservation officer Rusty Anderson estimates the animal was killed on November 25th or 26th, weeks after the bull elk season closed in the area. While evidence was collected at the scene, additional information is being sought. "Someone out there has details that will bring this poaching case to a successful conclusion," Anderson noted. "I'd really like to visit with that person."
