Ask Fish and Game: Filing hunter harvest reports

idfg-mdemick
Q. A friend reminded me that I have 10 days to submit my hunter harvest reports. What's the hurry? A. Deer, elk and pronghorn hunters are asked to file their harvest report, regardless of whether they actually hunted with their tags or whether they took an animal, within 10 days of the harvest or within 10 days of the end of their hunts. There is a hurry; it takes some time to collect reports and turn them into a useful report for the Commission, which uses this, together with winter herd counts and other biological information to set hunting seasons early in the New Year. Filing sooner saves money, and you will avoid getting reminder post cards in November and telephone calls in January. Hunters can file their reports online at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/public/hunt/?getPage=106 or can call 1-877-268-9365 and speak to a live operator 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
