Application Period for Controlled Hunts Ends June 5

Hunters have until midnight June 5th to apply for this fall's deer, elk, pronghorn, fall black bear and fall turkey controlled hunts. Hunters may apply for controlled hunts at any hunting and fishing license vendor, Fish and Game office; with a credit card by calling 1-800-55HUNT5; online at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov, or by mail to Fish and Game's License Section, P.O. Box 25, Boise, ID 83707. Hunters must have a valid 2015 Idaho hunting license to apply. An additional fee is charged for telephone and Internet applications. Mailed applications must be postmarked no later than June 5. Hunters can make informed decisions about what controlled hunts to apply for by using the Hunt Planner to access harvest statistics and drawing odds from the past 10 years. The Hunt Planner is available at: http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/ifwis/huntPlanner/. Hunters can also use a new feature on Fish and Game's website that lists the 2014 drawing odds and statistics by controlled hunt number and hunt areas including: number of tags available, number of first choice applicants, number drawn for their first choice, percentage who drew in 2014, number of tags issued, estimated number of hunters, estimated number of animals harvested, and harvest success.
