Youth Outdoor Skills Day Set For May 2 Near Rexburg

Area sporting groups will once again join the Idaho Fish and Game to host an event to encourage more youth and their families to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.
A free Youth Outdoor Skills Day is planned for Saturday, May 2, at Beaver Dick Park west of Rexburg on Highway 33.
Participants will learn important skills needed to safely participate in hunting, fishing, and other popular outdoor activities enjoyed in the area.
A variety of free seminars will cover a wide range of outdoor related topics and skills including archery, muzzleloading, outdoor survival, fishing, trapping, backpacking, boating safety, dog training, outdoor crafts, antlers-horns-and furs, Leave No Trace camping, hound hunting, waterfowl hunting and more.
Several exhibits will also be on display including the Citizens Against Poaching, Bear Education and Pellet Gun trailers.
The entire event is open to the whole family. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. for the free rifle raffle. Participants that take part in at least six of the seminars will be entered into a drawing for a rifle. The event concludes at 2 p.m. Free hamburger or hotdog, chips, and a drink will be provided to each participant.
Beaver Dick Park is located along the Henry's Fork of the Snake River, just west of Rexburg on Highway 33, adjacent to Fish and Game's Cartier Slough Wildlife Management Area.
