Idaho Fish and Game

Travel Channel to Feature Idaho Beaver

idfg-sliebenthal
An upcoming episode of the Travel Channel's Mysteries at the Museum will feature "Geronimo" the beaver who was part of a Fish and Game program in the late 1940s. Geronimo was the test animal for a method of transporting beavers to the back country by parachute drop. Craftsmen devised special wooden boxes designed to safely release the beavers once the parachutes touched down. The program helped rid McCall of some pesky beavers, but more importantly, those relocated rodents created some amazing habitat in places that would be very difficult for workers to access. The segment, which was shot at the MK Nature Center, will air on Mysteries At the Museum on the Travel Channel. No air date is available yet, but producers expect it will be in late spring or early summer.
