The notice of rulemaking – proposed rule was published in the October 1, 2025, Idaho Administrative Bulletin.
The intent to promulgate was published in the May 7, 2025, Idaho Administrative Bulletin.
The Idaho Fish and Game Commission voted to adopt the proposed rule language.
This rulemaking concerns the comprehensive review of current chapter IDAPA 13.01.03, “Public Use of Lands Owned or Controlled by the Department of Fish and Game,” in compliance with Executive Order 2021.01. The agency has identified some technical, duplicative, and non-substantive modifications that may be evaluated for integration.
The agency added clarifying language around prohibited activities, to include the use of airsoft guns and exploding targets; added a definition for ‘camping;’ modified the ‘watercraft’ definition to match a definition in another section of rule; and added language that provides the agency more flexibility in posting camping stay limits.
The public comment period was open from October 1, 2025, to October 22, 2025.
