Hunting in Idaho is managed in categories split into several seasons and rules brochures which define the legal hunting or trapping opportunities.
- Big Game
- Elk, deer, pronghorn, black bear, mountain lion, and gray wolf
- Moose, bighorn sheep (California and Rocky Mountain), and mountain goat
- Upland Game (and Birds), Turkey, & Furbearer
- Birds: Grouse (forest, sage, sharp-tailed); Quail (California, bobwhite); Pheasant; Wild Turkey
- Small Game: Mountain cottontail, snowshoe hare, red squirrel
- Furbearers: River otter, beaver, mink, marten, muskrat, red fox, skunk, badger, bobcat, coyote, weasel, racoon
- Migratory Birds
- Ducks, geese, sandhill crane, crow, and swan
To hunt in Idaho you will need:
- a hunting license
- a tag for big game species and turkey
- to take a hunter education class if born after January 1, 1975
