Overview Summary and Rationale
Efforts to reduce elk numbers have been successful. Modeling suggests reducing tag allocation from 2,500 to 500 will maintain (or slightly grow) elk numbers consistent with objectives in the elk management plan while maintaining over-the-counter opportunity.
