Fish and Game's Southeast Region is once again gearing up for the Idaho Women's Outdoor Workshop-also known as WOW. This event is the perfect forum for women to learn or improve outdoor skills and meet like-minded women in a non-competitive setting. This year, WOW will be held at Camp Taylor on Scout Mountain near Pocatello. Activities start Friday afternoon, June 9th, and run through Saturday, June 10th. Qualified instructors will be on hand to teach over a dozen fun and educational classes in a beautiful setting. Try your hand at archery, fly fishing, fly tying, Dutch- oven cooking, basic horsemanship, and mountain biking. If you like hiking or being out in nature where you can learn about area plants and animals, WOW has classes for you! Are you interested in exploring the outdoors, but just need to get pointed in the right direction? Take WOW's map and compass class. For your creative and expressive side, sign-up for outdoor photography, nature journaling, or candle making using materials found in nature. Participants are not required to spend the night, but WOW encourages the experience by providing cabin accommodations and space where you can pitch your own tent. Those who decide to stay overnight, or at least until the stars come out, will be treated to dessert by the campfire and conversation with new friends. Who knows-- you may even get to see a silver-haired bat or other evening flyers up close as Fish and Game biologists will be on hand to introduce you to some of Scout Mountain's night time critters! At sunrise, participants can take an early morning walk led by a favorite birding enthusiast, or stretch their WOW experience through a Yoga class taught by a knowledgeable instructor. If you are "wow-ed" by what this outdoor workshop has to offer, please contact the Fish and Game office in Pocatello at 232-4703 to secure your spot in this special event. Participants are required to pre-register and pay a $30.00 fee which will cover all meals (dinner and dessert on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday), equipment, materials, camping fees, and a WOW tote bag filled with various items. Please note that space is limited and participants must be at least 16 years old. Fish and Game would like to thank area sponsors and partners who have supported this year's WOW, including Portneuf River Outfitters in Pocatello, Scott's Ski and Sports in Pocatello, KZBQ 93.7, Safari Club International, Sportsman's Warehouse in Idaho Falls, our local Forest Service and BLM offices, and numerous community volunteers!
