LEWISTON - Fly fishing, archery hunting, outdoor survival, map and compass reading, and rifle, shotgun and muzzleloader shooting skills are just some of the topics being offered in the 8TH annual Women's Outdoor Clinic to be held at the Troy-Deary Gun Club on June 20-23. Sponsored by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the Troy-Deary Gun Club, the weekend event will provide an interactive, non-competitive, educational outdoor experience for women. The overall goals are to increase women participation in outdoor-related activities and to teach of the importance of responsible resource management. More importantly, the clinic will provide the foundation for women to become outdoor leaders and to develop a network of women with similar interests. "This workshop will give women a chance to learn and develop skills in something they have always wanted to do, but have never had the opportunity," says Jill Green, an IDFG Wildlife Reservist who coordinated the event. "Plus it's women teaching women, which makes for a great learning environment." The women will gain hands-on experience and received information by rotating from various one-hour training sessions. The registration cost is $20, which includes all meals, hat, snacks, all supplies and use of equipment. Young women, 12-17 years, will be given a discount of $10 but must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian. To register and for more information, contact the Idaho Department of Fish and Game at 799-5010. Space is limited to 40 women and pre-registration forms will be accepted until Thursday, June 19.
