Idaho Fish and Game

Winter Feeding Advisory Committee to Meet

idfg-nnokkentved
The Southwest Region Big Game Winter Feeding Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, at the Idaho Fish and Game regional office at 3101 S. Powerline Road, Nampa. The meeting is open to the public. Winter feeding advisory committees have been established in each of Fish and Game's seven regions. These five-member committees, made up of local sportsmen and sportswomen, work to define local criteria for designating a big game winter feeding emergency. The committees also assess information on animal condition, and make recommendations to Fish and Game's regional supervisors on the need for winter feeding. Beginning with the October meeting, the Southwest Region's committee will meet with specific Fish and Game staff each month to review conditions in relation to emergency criteria, review Fish and Game's state of readiness to initiate feeding, get feeding and animal condition updates in years when feeding takes place, and discuss other issues related to big game health and the ability of big game to survive on available natural forage. For more information regarding the Southwest Region Big Game Winter Feeding Advisory Committee meeting, contact the Fish and Game Nampa office at 465-8465. Individuals with disabilities may request meeting accommodations by contacting Kim Cox at the Fish and Game Nampa office (465-8465) or through the Idaho Relay Service at 1-800-377-3529 (TDD).
