Upland Season Brochures Available

Brochures for the 2002-2003 upland game seasons are available now at license vendors as well as Fish and Game offices. The new rules can also be found at www2.state.id.us/fishgame in the hunting section. Hunters will notice some changes in the appearance of the new brochure, similar to the new look of the big game rules booklet. Changes have been made in an attempt by Fish and Game to make the rules easier to read and use. Another notable change is that trapping rules are no longer included in the upland booklet. A separate booklet will contain trapping rules and should be available by late July. The upland booklet does still contain other rules and information on furbearer seasons. Falconry season rules are also included in the booklet. Rules changes are fairly minor in the new booklet, but hunters may note that pheasant limits have been standardized statewide. The pheasant season in the Magic Valley has been extended through December 31 to match the season in all of the state but Area 2. Minidoka and Cassia counties have been added to Area 2 where the season ends November 30. The booklet covers hunting of rabbits and hares, as well as crows. Hunters will also find information including official shooting hours for early Canada goose hunts, mourning doves and sandhill cranes, but a separate publication will cover the 2003 rules for these hunts because rules are set annually.
