Hunters are reminded that the general any weapon mule deer season in unit 1 ended November 20. Prior to 2019, the regular deer tag allowed harvest of antlered mule deer for an additional eleven days.
This change was approved in spring 2019 by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission to address declining harvest rates. Sportsmen expressed concern over the lack of mature bucks during the public scoping process.
Either sex white-tailed deer season remains open in unit 1 through December 1. The fully-haired tail must be left naturally attached to the carcass of deer harvested from this unit in order to identify species.
