Idaho Fish and Game

Special Event: History on Display, June 7

idfg-mcoleman
A historical display of Idaho Fish and Game's hatchery program at the Idaho Historical Museum will be part of the events of First Thursday, from 5 to 9 p.m. June 7, in downtown Boise. In 1907 the first state-owned hatchery opened its doors at Hay Spur in central Idaho to produce trout for nearby waters, triggering a rich history of producing fish for anglers all over the state. Go back to what some affectionately call Ôthe Good Old Days' through a wealth of history in artifacts, documents, photos and memoirs on display. Thursday's event at the historical museum includes:
  • View a renovated 1957 Chevrolet half-ton truck with a restored 1940s era fish tank.
  • Live music.
  • Casting contest for kids.
  • Youth fly-tying demonstration.
  • Craft creative flies with colorful art supplies.
  • "Fishy" food, ice cream, beer and wine available.
"The Fish Tales: A Hundred Years of Hatcheries" at the Idaho Historical Museum, 610 N. Julia Davis Drive, Boise, continues through June 10.
