Salmon Season Above Kamiah Bridge To Close On May 18, 2003

KAMIAH - The mainstem and Middle Fork Clearwater River salmon fishery from the Kamiah Bridge upstream to a posted boundary above Clear Creek will close Sunday May 18, 2003 one hour after sunset. The harvest quota has been met. Because continued harvest could jeopardize production goals at the Kooskia National Fish Hatchery on Clear Creek, the Department authorized closure of the chinook salmon fishing season in this river segment of the Clearwater River at the end of salmon fishing hours on May 18. The salmon fishery in the mainstem Clearwater River below the Orofino Bridge will stay open through the next (May 23) week but likely will not be open beyond Memorial Day.
