Idaho Fish and Game

Resident Deer and Elk Tags Go on Sale July 25

idfg-staff
Idaho big game hunters can pick up their resident tags beginning July 25 except for elk zones with separate limited quotas. The sale will begin at 5 a.m. wherever a license vendor is open. Fish and Game offices open at 8 a.m. Tags are sold throughout the hunting season. Hunters who already hold a receipt for a tag can simply exchange the receipt. All others will pay the tag fee. Receipts do not actually have to be presented. A license number or Social Security number can be used to pull up files which will show tag fees have already been paid. Elk zones with a separate quota on tag sales cannot be purchased until August 1 starting 10 a.m. Mountain Time (9a.m. Pacific Time) at any vendor or Fish and Game office. Those limited zone tags are: Boise River Zone B tag, Lolo Zone B tag, Selway Zone B tag, and Middle Fork A & B tags. A receipt for an elk tag is not an actual tag and having one does not guarantee any specific tag for the hunter.
