Registration For Lewiston Area Hunter and Archery Education Courses Begins July 13

LEWISTON - With the fall hunting season fast approaching, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) encourages first-time hunters to register for one of a number of upcoming hunter education course scheduled during August and September. These courses will be the last courses offered in the Lewiston-area before the fall hunting seasons. Students or parent of students can register for an upcoming class at the IDFG office beginning Tuesday, July 13 at 8 a.m. or until classes are full. A registration fee of $8.00 is required as well as the student's social security number, phone, date of birth and mailing address. Registration will also be accepted by phone beginning at 1 p.m. Students who will reach the age of 10 or older prior to the next general hunting season can choose from the following courses that will be held at the Hells gate Hunter Education Center: - Archery education course, August 6 from 6-9 p.m., August 7&8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Hunter education course, August 9-12 & 16-19 from 6-8 p.m., August 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Hunter education course, September 7-10 & 13-17 from 6-8 p.m., September 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, an Independent Study Course Completion Day is scheduled for July 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This course is available to students age 14 and over who have completed the Idaho Hunter Education Home Study course available at IDFG offices or the new on-line course available through IDFG's website at http://hunter-ed.com/id/. To receive credit for completing the online course, students must complete the Today's Hunter, a nine-chapter course and the online pre-certification exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, students will be able to print a certificate of course completion. This certificate is required for admittance to the July 31 field completion day. There is a $15.00 examination fee for the Pre-Certification Exam and certificate, which is paid directly online.
