LEWISTON - - On August 15, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game will begin student registration for hunter and archery education courses scheduled for late-August through October in the Lewiston area. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Lewiston IDFG office located at 3316 16th Street. Only a limited number of students will be accepted into each course, and once the maximum number is reached, registration will close. An address, phone number, date of birth, social security number and an $8.00 registration fee is required for each student. If space is still available in the classes, individuals can register by phone by calling 799-5010 after 1 p.m. on August 15 and then mail their registration fee within 10 days. In addition, youth ages 14 years and over who have completed the Idaho Hunter Education Home Study course or the new on-line course available through IDFG's website at www.fishandgame.idaho.gov can register for an Independent Study Course Completion Class to be held on a Saturday in September. To reserve a spot in this class, students must show their pre-certification exam certificate from the on-line course or have already completed the home study course workbook. IDFG schedules an average of one class each month in Lewiston and sufficient courses throughout the region to meet the needs of young hunters. Registration for courses to be held in Lewiston during November and December will occur in mid-October. For further information on Idaho's hunter education program, contact BJ Lillibridge at 799-5010.
