Registration for Lewiston-area Hunter and Archery Education Courses Begins April 18

LEWISTON - On April 18, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) will begin student registration for hunter and archery education courses offered in May and June in the Lewiston- area. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Lewiston IDFG office located at 1540 Warner Avenue. Only a limited number of students will be accepted into the courses, and once the maximum number is reached registration will close. An address, phone number, date of birth, social security number and an $8.00 registration fee is required for each student. Individuals can also register by phone by calling 799-5010 after 1 p.m. on April 18 and then mail in their registration fee within 10 days. Courses available include:
  • Hunter education course: May 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; and May 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 pm.
  • Hunter education course: June 13, 14, 15, 16, & 17 from 9 a.m. to noon; and June 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Archery education course: July 6, 7, & 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; and July 9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition, youth ages 14 years and over who have completed the Idaho Hunter Education Home Study course or the new on-line course available through IDFG's website at www.fishandgame.idaho.gov can register for an Independent Study Course Completion Class to be held Saturday, June 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To reserve a spot in this class, students must show their pre-certification exam certificate from the on-line course or have already completed the home study course workbook. IDFG schedules an average of one class each month in Lewiston and sufficient courses throughout the region to meet the needs of young hunters.
