LEWISTON - Future hunters 14-years or older who have not yet completed Idaho's hunter education requirement are encouraged to register for the final hunter education course completion day, scheduled for Saturday, September 11. This will be the last completion course offered before the fall general hunting seasons begin. This course is designed for students who will have completed either the new online course or the independent home-study course. Once the coursework is completed, the students must attend this one-day course completion class where they will receive Idaho-specific training and be required to pass the written exam, and field and live fire exercises required of all hunter education students. Interested hunters must pre-register beginning Tuesday, September 7 at 8 a.m. by contacting Kent Henderson at the Lewiston IDFG office located at 1540 Warner Avenue or by calling (208) 799-5010. A registration fee of $8.00 is required as well as the student's social security number, phone, date of birth and mailing address. To complete the home-study option, students must complete a 40-page workbook and attend the course completion day. Student manuals, workbooks and materials may be obtained from Henderson at IDFG. To receive credit for completing the online course option, students must complete Today's Hunter, a nine-chapter online course and the Pre-Certification Exam available through the Idaho Fish and Game Website at http://hunter-ed.com/id/. Upon successful completion of the exam, students will be able to print a certificate of course completion. This certificate is required for admittance to the course completion day. There is a $15.00 examination fee for the Pre-Certification Exam and certificate, which is paid directly online.
