Contact: Catherine Butler, Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation, 334-2648 Imagine hooking 12 steelhead in one day of fishing. Sound like a dream? It was a dream come true for Boisean Rick Olson, thanks to a trip he won at the annual wildlife radio auction. The avid angler says he and his friends had one agenda during their weekend lodge getaway to the Stanley area: catch steelhead. "Twelve fish in one day is way better than I've ever done before. This was a great value. The auction offers an excellent opportunity to take a trip you might not otherwise think about doing," Olson said. In addition, the auction gives outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to support wildlife and wildlife habitat with their donations. Your chance to win your own dream trip is Wednesday night, April 25 when Idaho Fish and Game, Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation (IFWF) and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) hold their annual radio auction. Thirty-six Idaho trips are up for bid during the three-hour event, which will be broadcast on KIDO AM-63 in the Boise area as well as stations in Twin Falls (KLIX-AM), Pocatello (KWIK-AM) and Idaho Falls (KID-AM). The broadcast will run from 7 p.m. through 10 p.m. "The great thing about this auction is that we offer something for everyone. We have float trips, an archery hunt, and fishing trips as well as wilderness getaways", explained RMEF Regional Director Pat Cudmore. The radio auction is an annual fundraiser with this year's proceeds going to fish and game projects throughout Southern Idaho. "This event is a great partnership," Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation Executive Director Gayle Valentine said. "It offers listeners who love the outdoors some tremendous opportunities, and helps raise money for important projects throughout the state." Olson took home his limit of two steelhead (after releasing the other 10). He's not only hooked on fishing, he's now hooked on the radio auction, too. "I'm anticipating this year's event and looking forward to bidding on a new experience." 2001 Wildlife Radio Auction Trip Details
