Idaho Fish and Game

Pheasants Stocked Around Magic Valley Region

idfg-staff
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has been stocking game farm rooster pheasants around the region since the opening of the regular pheasant season. These releases will continue into the middle of November. This program is simply a put and take operation for sportsmen. There is no requirement to buy the special Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Pheasant Permit anywhere in this region, even on Niagara Springs WMA. Planting locations and the number of birds released each week for the east side of the region are as follows: Milner Dam, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands, south side of river - 60 birds; Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) Tract F27 (5 miles north of Rupert) - 40 birds; BOR Tract F28 (2 north of Acequia) - 40 birds; BOR Goyne Sump Tract (4 north, 1 east of Paul) - 40 birds. In the western part of the region, birds can be found at: Niagara Springs WMA - 50 birds; BLM Tract T8 (7 south and 6 west of Twin Falls) - 20 birds; BLM tracts in the Bell Rapids Area (west of Hagerman) BR-1, BR-2, BR-9, BR-10, BR-15, and BR-20 - 100 birds total. (moreƉ) Free maps are available at the Jerome Fish and Game office and at BLM and BOR offices that identify these public lands in our region. Ask for the South Central Idaho Wildlife Tracts map. Bag and possession limits are as usual throughout the Magic Valley Region: 3 roosters daily, 6 in possession. The pheasant season in this region runs through November 30.
