Recycling Crafts August 21 1:00-4:00 p.m. Ever wanted to do something with that trash lying around the house? Stop by our table at the MK Nature Center and learn how to make crafts out of stuff that you might otherwise throw away. The table will be set up in the Nature Center courtyard. Pond Detectives August 23 11:00 a.m. Want to find out lurks below in the MK Nature Center pond? Use scoopers, nets, magnifying glasses, and your hands to investigate pond life that is not so obvious to the naked eye. We will then combine those discoveries with the plants and animals that you can see at the pond every day. Ages 6-12 are welcome. Sign up ahead of time by calling 334-2225. Butterflies August 25 7:00 p.m. Get out to the MK Nature Center and see some butterflies. Join butterfly expert Paul Castrovillo as he tells you about the butterfly ecology, identification, and more. Then take a short walk through our butterfly garden to see where butterflies live at the Nature Center and how native plants are great for attracting butterflies. Critter Care August 27 2:00 p.m. In addition to all the wildlife you can see outside, the Nature Center is home to several critters that live inside our building. These animals need to be fed and you can watch this process. Follow a Nature Center employee through feeding the kestrels, snakes and salamander to learn more about each of these animals. Open to all ages.
